Engaged ...

The wedding day

very good at all, I'm back ... "juas-juas MUAs!

Well, we're in the process, I have one foot here and the other at least nine hours every day I remember where jetlaj invented ... to late at night, eyes wide , that if, in the morning I give the two in bed and I hear ....

Well, taking advantage of the lack of control, and, before returning to the daily routine, I'll post up a couple related to the kitchen but not directly from recipes, relatándoos some things from the wedding and trip as a gift for waiting all this time and for being there.

then try to return to the weekly and begin with recetillas for Christmas dinner. I hope.

In this post I leave some things to prepare for the wedding, so you can see some more of my hobbies beyond the kitchen. I love wedding planning ... and the organization in general, I'm a little bossy, we're going to do ... in some dollars and I call "the pitbull" ... if there are many bugs loose out there!

Well, for those who do not know we were married in the wonderful Hotel Cortijo Bravo, Velez-Malaga, on the link to your page you can see some fotillos so that you get in position. The place is wonderful, has stunning views and take care of even the smallest detail throughout. If someday you have the opportunity, pass, because the food is excellent and what stands out is all you can see at a glance (which in itself is impressive) but the excellent, excellent I would say, treatment of staff.

Although it deserves a special mention for me Mary Joseph, the event organizer, who was attentive at all times my desires and putting everything to my taste (and see that I am demanding that the nickname earn it cost me a lot!) of course I can not forget the rest of the staff, from Fede, the cook, to Sergio, the head room, going through each and every one of the waiters and hotel staff who made my special day was also unique to the rest of my guests.

In hindsight, the opinions of those who we were there coincided exactly that, when the site was beautiful, impeccable, but what most surprised was the deal of personal attention and dedication. I definitely was more than happy.

Although the ceremony started later than expected (story to tell the rest of my life), and no, it was the fault of the bride, the rest went smoothly.

We had a half ceremony at dusk, so fashionable this, read my best friend, a cousin of mine and one of my husband, which made the very emotional ceremony. The officiant, a lifelong friend of my father, gave a special look at the whole ceremony and captured the essence that we broadcast.

From the details, I am going to count, with what I like a stationery and imagination that I have ... I'm bored, come on. All American air had a wedding, I had bridesmaids, my best friends, each one you order a bouquet with a different flower. The classes made me a friend of mine who is an artist, also did mine which is lovely, but now I have pictures, and we gave each of the mothers. Ah! And the lit, come on, a trabajazo.

As I am a little more pa'lla that over here, my friends tell me I made by hand all kinds of nonsense, from the little signs of classes that inside pair had a special word to the ladies, to menus at the wedding, through the prayer books, the little signs of placement of the tables, the names of the tables, the little frames for them, a stones with placement of the guests, the guest book, video, photo ... until the cake! Hahaha! That, of course.

The only thing I did was the dolls, which they are responsible to Marta, Dragonfly Blue and I did this wonder everyone loved the originality and the like.

As you'll see a very special friend, gave us this pair of clips, mainly because the dolls that I instruct Martha were a surprise and nobody knew, and as I loved, because I put the Clips Conon the cake and stuffed Martin presiding. Right now in my living room are in a privileged place. It was a great detail and all were amazed at the work of Marta.

The cake was a dummy, ie cork decorated with fondant, except the top floor, which was true and that was that we cut. For this recipe I Bea Devil's food cake that you can see here, and use the same fill of Betty Croquet I found in Iceland for the whole pie, which by now all that was to save time, I had been great.

In closing, I leave you with a photo session of the day, our photographer was Holms Andreas, who also did all the pictures you see on this post. It's amazing how it captures the essence of things, I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the pictures! Yes, normally, a picture is worth a thousand words, in this case above all, I think his work speaks for itself, could not be happier with the election and with him. Of course the best way to remember this day, through their images.

I hope you liked the entry and not made you heavy, especially after the long wait, I am very grateful that you continue there. See, now, more often and soon!

antibiotics to treat pneumonia increase pain in patients with dementia

Team Jane L. Givens, Research Institute on Aging Boston (USA), analyzed data from 323 patients with advanced dementia. In episodes of suspected pneumonia received some antibiotic treatment, which was associated with longer survival, but increased symptoms of pain and anguish in proportion to the intensity of therapy. The study is published in the latest issue of Archives of Internal Medicine.

One study describes the importance of RGS proteins in the immune system

A study published in the latest issue of Nature Immunology describe how RGS proteins that bind to RNA, regulating normal cell maturation T. The team of Martin Turner, Babrhan Institute in Cambridge (UK) has demonstrated in mice that lack a type of RBP show abnormal development of T cells Moreover, this deficit is associated with an aggressive form of leukemia. The study provides clues about the development of T cells, which would be useful in the treatment of pathologies associated with immunity.

arsenic trioxide may be useful in medulloblastoma and other cancers

arsenic trioxide, which is more than a decade to be used in acute promyelocytic leukemia, it would be useful in other types of cancer, since it acts on signaling chain Hedgehog cell. The team of Philip Beachy, author of the study that points to this hypothesis and Professor of Developmental Biology, Stanford University (USA), proved the effectiveness of this derivative of arsenic in medulloblastoma in mouse and human cells. Beachy estimated that arsenic may be effective in combination with other cancer drugs that act at different levels Hedgeghog road, such as cyclopamine or itraconazole. The study is available on the website of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Found a protein that promotes the survival of cancer cells

The recombinant protein 70 (HSP70), which produce the cells under conditions of severe stress, contributes to their survival, according to a study by the National University of Ireland published in the latest issue of PLoS Biology. While healthy cells do not usually suffer stress, sick as tumor itself, because they grow very quickly in places where they should not. The research team has shown how Afshin Samali HSP70 interacts with and activates a cell receptor survival mechanisms that prevent apoptosis. The study opens the door to developing therapeutic strategies to block the protection of diseased cells would be useful in diseases like cancer, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and diabetes

replacement therapy would not be effective in deficiency of alpha-1 antitrypsin

replacement therapy would not be effective in deficiency of alpha-1 antitrypsin. This concludes an analysis of two trials on the treatment of inherited genetic disorder that is associated with chronic lung disease and emphysema, which is published in the latest issue of The Cochrane. Researchers led by Peter Gotzsche, of the Rigshospitalet in Copehnague (Denmark), analyzed the results of two trials with 140 people who were treated with alpha-1 antitrypsin or placebo, respectively, two and three years. No significant differences were found between treatment and control groups.

The genetic map of an individual, in just six hours for 80 euros

The fierce race to lower costs brings the human genome sequencing is in his prime. A research center belonging to IBM has completed 15 years of work on a technique to sequence the human genome in just 6 hours and cost about $ 100 (about 80 euros al cambio).

just a few years ago, news broke that a huge team of scientists had managed to completely sequence the human genome. They needed thousands of experts and millions of dollars to get, in addition to very powerful computers and many years of work. What we thought the news of the century, progress has been made into something almost everyday.

DNA sequencing no longer seems like science fiction, or physically or economically. With the development of computing and its steady increases in speed while decreasing costs, the systems needed to calculate the DNA sequences became cheaper and faster. Prices have been falling steadily and appears from time to time some news where someone breaks a record price and time taken to accomplish the feat.

Stanislav Polonsky and his team at the Watson Research Center of IBM, in cooperation with Roche Applied Science, in Connecticut and the University of Oxford, UK, began fifteen years ago a revolutionary technique called Solid State Nanopore Sequencing ( nanopore sequencing Solid State), which consists of a chip (costs $ 100) that single DNA fiber filters by a nanoscale pores and is examining all the chemical structure rapidly and in parallel. Each nucleotide generates an "electrical fingerprint" different information that can be used to distinguish between the different fragments of molecules that pass through the detector. Thus, the technique becomes 30 times faster than current technologies, so that any expert who can use it to sequence a complete human genome in just 6 hours.

This will allow physicians to genuine genetic databases of patients and have comprehensive records DNA to anticipate possible illnesses and correct in time genetic faults that may occur. Even fetuses get medical devise a strategy to repair the damage genetic hereditary bring the baby in the womb. The cost and speed in competition with a simple blood test that in any medical center perform on a massive scale. It has created a company called Oxford Nanopore that intends to commercialize this technique soon.

A study in Colombia found that an extract can restore strength to the cornea

A study by the National University of Colombia, first published in the world on this subject, found that an extract Chinese calendar can restore firmness to the cornea. Genipin extract that comes from China Gardenia jasminoides fruit, for several years was patented as a component to alleviate the symptoms of type 2 diabetes. It has also been described as a useful element to prevent after cataract surgery, the capsule is opaque the crystalline lens, allowing focus images on the eye. However, it is the first time is reported as a tool to repair the collagen, the main component of the cornea.

The resistance of the cornea depends on how close they are collagen molecules. When a person suffers a disease of the cornea, such as keratoconus, one of the most common in the world, it is because the cornea loses its elasticity, it retracts back and looks like a balloon. This occurs when the bonding between the collagen molecules and lead to create spaces that it will reduce up to 50% visual quality.

currently to treat keratoconus, there are several treatment modalities such as the implantation of intrastromal rings, some rings that go inside the cornea to prevent twisting. However, this option has its drawbacks, because the ring can be destroyed by the body itself, or it can infect.

recently came another option: the molecular cross-linking, known as crosslinking, a chemical reaction that uses a medicine called riboflavin, which is applied in eye drops and adheres to the cornea using ultraviolet light, highly questionable.

This procedure will create new links between collagen fibers and increases the resistance of the cornea. Thus, improving acuity display in a large percentage of patients
"Despite the encouraging results obtained with this treatment, UV light can damage the endothelium and the corneal epithelium, and in severe cases, compromises the intraocular lens and other tissues," said Marcel Avila, eye cornea and cataract surgeon and author of the project. Just
, Avila takes the crosslinking but, instead of adhering riboflavin (a medication) to the cornea, using ultraviolet light, using the natural compound genipin. How do

The experiment was performed in 25 porcine corneas clean, all aged between 8 and 10 hours post mortem. Specialists cut with a scalpel (surgical knife) two strips of the cornea of \u200b\u200beach animal's eye. A piece of this membrane was preserved as a control (no treatment), and another was treated with genipin, applied topically to 0.10%, 0.25% and 1% in balanced salt solution for 40 minutes.

After treatment, the researchers calculated the elastic behavior of each piece of cornea tested at constant force to the point of rupture. This procedure was done using the Young's modulus, which measures the ease or difficulty to stretch a material. The measurements showed an increase in the strength of the corneas tratadas, dependiendo de la concentración de genipín.

Así, incrementó la densidad the fibers of the cornea and the decline in the spaces between fiber and fiber became apparent.

The study also led to the discovery that genipin has a positive effect on the resistance of the cornea to bacterial collagenase, a residue left by organisms in a few hours destroys the corneal tissue.

Usually, when an infection occurs, collagenase does degrade 50% of corneal area 20 hours elapsed. In corneas treated with genipin, the total destruction occurs after 220 hours. Dr. Avila consider this a breakthrough because it "gives them a chance to implement treatment and stop the disintegration of the cornea when it becomes infected."

"The use of genipin and was patented for diabetes, that indicates that it is a compound that works for human beings without being toxic. In the field of scientific research that is of great importance, because we have a long road trip as is the testing in humans. Now try the rehabilitation of diseased corneas to ensure that patients get a transplant, "concluded the researcher.
