Snuff


The snuff is the leading cause of preventable death in the European Union, accounting for over half a million deaths per year and more than a million deaths in Europe as a whole. It is estimated that 25% of all cancer deaths and 15% of all deaths in the European Union are attributable to smoking. To curb this epidemic, the European Community is actively developing a comprehensive policy on control of snuff that is characterized by a focus on four phases:


The adoption of legislative measures, which constitute the backbone of current community activities and future control of snuff.
Another important element in the snuff-control strategy is to support prevention activities and cessation of smoking in Europe.
is essential to integrate the control of snuff in a series of policies (for example, agricultural policies, fiscal and development) to ensure that snuff control principles are part of all areas.
ensure that the pioneering role of the European Community in many areas of snuff affects control beyond the borders of the European Union and the Community is housed in the main control advocates worldwide snuff.
